We are thrilled to share that thanks to a successful grant application to the National Science Foundation we have been able to install compactors in the North Collection room.  Now all of our collection rooms are compactorized allowing us to maximumly use our space to house our world class insect collection.

This grant has allowed us to install 150 new insect cabinets, 800 new drawers, and 20,000 new unit trays!  We have also now been able reorganize the entire collection.

To get the North Collection room ready for the renovation we had to carefully wrap, seal, and move 2405 insect drawers full of specimens to temporary storage,  It was quite a feat, but the CUIC team was amazing!

It was also a major event to receive the 800 new insect drawers and have them arrive in a large truck on pallets that we had to unload in a single morning. Overall we could not be more pleased to have our collection in the best possible shape and we can’t wait for you all to come visit!
