Visiting the CUIC
The Cornell University Insect Collection is a research collection, and we cannot support open public visits to the Collection. Our public outreach activities include educational tours for students registered in Cornell University classes, and our participation in the annual Insectapalooza public open house sponsored by the Cornell University Department of Entomology.
Specialists may visit the collection to study specimens in the collection, and to consult our extensive type holdings. Prospective visitors should contact the curator (JKL5 "at" cornell.edu) to determine a mutually agreeable time for a visit. We can supply microscopes and fibre-optic illuminators, and phase-contrast compound microscopes for visitor use. For visitors without sufficient institutional or governmental support, the J.C. Bradley Fund for the Advancement of Insect Taxonomy or the O.A. Johannsen Fund for the Study of Diptera can provide modest support of accommodation costs, when appropriate, during time spent in Ithaca. Contact the curator for information.
