New carabid beetles from Tahiti

December 4th, 2012

Curator Jim Liebherr has recently published two papers describing 14 new species from Moorea island, and Mont Mauru, eastern Tahiti island, French Polynesia. The Cornell Chronicle article can be seen at: http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/Nov12/NewBeetle.html.

Above is Mecyclothorax popotioaoa (the narrow, roach-like Mecyclothorax beetle) from the summit of Mont Tohiea; one of seven new Mecyclothorax species from the mountain first visited by entomologists in 2006.
